Aarni Eresmaa
I'm a young man with high ambitions.
In my second year of high school, I'm currently studying for next year's Matriculation Examinations.
There I'm focusing on subjects that will be the most important in my future:
Mathematics
,
Physics
,
Chemistry and Swedish.
I chose these subjects because I have a clear route for my future. I will study engineering in the
aerospace industry, because my goal is to work in the space industry. It would be fascinating and challenging work,
and so my life is mapped around it.
I'm also incorporating Swedish, because I greatly value international co-operation. I could imagine myself studying
or working elsewher in the Nordics.
Having grown up in the UK, bilingualism is one of my strengths.
I am incredibly grateful for this skill, and it is a constant part of my life.
Outside of studies and tutoring I love to move. Fitness is a part of my identity, which is seen in my activity at the gym, wrestling mat and
on trails.
I love mountainous landscapes and pushing myself.
Of my core values, the three most important are responsibility, ambition and faith.
I direct my life around these.
Background
I've been interested in applied mathematics and physics for a long time.
In my youth, space was one of my passions, and I learnt to code small games (to start).
From ages 13-15, programming was my thing, and even nowadays I utilise that skill -
for example, when I needed a web page for my tutoring action.
Having stepped into upper secondary school, my interest in Physics - and especially its concrete applications - was rekindled
I know, that these two fields will be central in my career.
Helping my classmates in maths and physics felt meaningful from the very beginning, and
there I got the idea to offer tutoring services
in general.
In high school I was also introduced to the competitive scene. In 2023 and 24 I participated in the national MAOL-competition
in mathematics and physics, and both times I was invited to Olympiad training.
Nowadays I'm studying hard in Lahti with the exainations and higher education in mind.
On the side of my studies I feel tutoring to be very enjoyable, and through that
I help students of all ages with maths and physics.
Teaching style
The best way to learn is to constantly exercise knowledge in some field.
Problem-solving and its explanation is what makes new knowledge stay in our memory, and at the same time
we learn about application.
Application of theory is the goal, so
that's exactly what we'll practice!
The handling of a new topic will move forward as so:
1. Theory
To begin, we will go through the new topic's central idea.
This could be an equation, phenomenon, type of problem or something else.
Theory is handled with problem solving in mind - for example, we'll derive an equation from absolute beginnings.
This way, theory is not just memorising some text inside out.
2. Example exercises
Next, we'll go through exercises, where I'll directly show the solving process.
I'll explain and reason all partial phases and calculations, and over time
I'll give the student more and more responsibility in forming solutions.
3. Exercises
In the final phase, I'll give the student a few exercises where I try to be as distant from the solution process as I need.
This way, confidence will develop, since
you'll be able to solve problems all by yourself!
My teaching style will grow to fit the student, of course. I always choose exercises suitable to my students' current skill level, and we'll stay on the
same topic until everything clicks.
Why me?
1. Relatability
Young people especially learn best, when they know and click with their teacher.
My tutoring is primarily aimed at new high school students, but I gladly take on students from middle school or higher grades.
Due to peer relatibility, as well as my relaxed and patient teaching style, my students trust me and enjoy themselves in my lessons.
Point being,
my students can relate to me.
This improves the quality and results of tutoring in general!
2. Effort
My students are free to focus purely on the lessons we share. Outside our lessons, I work diligently for your benefit.
I plan lesson topics and teaching methods beforehand, and after our lessons I write up summaries for myself (and guardians as well)
pertaining to the lesson.
This way, I'm able to plan the next lesson with as much quality as possible.
Depending on the your needs I can also prepare student-specific notes or practice sheets.
These are especially useful when preparing for a test.
3. Flexible reservations
I know well that students can have quite hectic schedules when hobbies, tests, projects and free time all coincide.
That's why I take a flexible approach to tutoring reservations.
On weekdays, I'm usually available for tutoring from 14:30 onwards, and on weekends from 12:30 onwards.
In these time slots, we'll agree on the most suitable time for you!
I am also flexible on location. The public spaces in the centre of Lahti suit me best, but I can also travel to your home (including 6€ travelling fees).
